Shanker Foundation Darjeeling Network of Positive People is the only foundation run by people living with HIV/AIDS (PLWHA) in the Darjeeling Hills.
It believes and promotes the dignity and right to life of persons living with the disease. It provides care and support to Positive People. The foundation also undertakes community awareness programs.
The social stigma and disicrimination attached to HIV/AIDS has made it extremely difficult for Shanker Foundation to come out in the open. The foundation has members from all walks of life including mothers, children. young adults and men. The list is increasing rapidly.
